Hand Lettering Fun

Hand Lettering Fun

One of my goals this year was to practice my lettering. Does that make me sound like I’m in fourth grade? I’ve had a long love affair with print and text and fonts and lettering so it’s always been in the back of my mind to do something fun with it. I’m not really sure what that will look like…addressing wedding invitations or creating prints. I’ve done a tiny bit of both and would love to do more but it’s one of those things that I always mean to do and then never take the time. This year I’ve set out to intentionally practice my lettering.

So when Kitty asked me to design the print materials for her women’s event I thought that was a perfect chance. She wanted something gray and gold. She wanted it to be simple and girly, on trend, and maybe something with laurel leaves. Here’s what we came up with…beginning with the first sketched lettering and then the full suite of print materials.

Holiness Print Suite

The finished project included: a poster (pictured at the top of the page,) invitation cards, tickets, prayer request cards, name tags, evaluations, note paper, conference booklets (not pictured) and verse cards (two samples pictured.) I hand lettered the words for the verse cards and the main “holiness.” So fun. I was thrilled to indulge two hobbies (lettering and design) and support a ministry I believe in at the same time. Doesn’t get much better than that!

  1. Soooo creative and fun! I loved the look of it all! You know there are several sites that will turn your “handwriting” into a font! Perhaps that’s what you should do with your “holiness” font so you can share it with the rest of us!!! 😀

  2. What a beautiful job! You are truly talented Nancy. I love reading about all of the wonderful new adventures the Lord is taking you on. I can”t wait until the next time we get to see each other. By the way, have you tried “Little Big Burger”?
